Sold in person

A real till — not a 'sell in person' checkbox.

Gate, gift shop, café and box office run on the same registers and the same orders as your website. And the day still closes properly at the end of it.

The till

What your team looks at all day.

The shift, start to finish

  1. OpenSomeone counts the float in, by name
  2. SellTickets, merch, memberships, gift cards
  3. CloseThe drawer is counted down
  4. ReconcileWhat should be there against what is

End of day, down to the penny

Cashing up is the part most booking systems leave to a spreadsheet. It is also the part that decides whether your bank deposit matches your reporting.

  • Start with what is in the drawer. Whoever opens the till counts the float in, and it is recorded against their name and the device they used.
  • The till works out what should be there. Your float, plus the cash it actually took during that shift. Nobody types that figure in, so nobody can nudge it.
  • Cheques and vouchers are not cash. They sit in the drawer as paper, so they never inflate the amount your cashier is expected to hand over — which is how staff end up wrongly looking short.
  • Over or short, by person and by till. A gap that keeps happening points at someone or something, instead of just at "Tuesday".
  • Every tender type listed separately. Cash, card, PayPal, gift cards, store credit and anything you named yourself. That is what makes the deposit reconcile.
  • You can look it up next month. Who opened it, who closed it, when, and on which device — so a query weeks later does not depend on anyone remembering.

What sits on the counter

Card machines, or just a phone

Proper card readers if you want them, or contactless payments taken on an iPhone or Android with no extra hardware at all. Bluetooth, over the internet, or the phone itself.

Each device knows what it has

Reader, barcode scanner, receipt printer, cash drawer. A till only offers what that particular counter can actually do, so staff are never shown a button that does nothing.

Everything you sell

Timed tickets with a departure picker, merchandise scanned off its own barcode, memberships signed up face to face, gift cards sold and redeemed, points earned and spent — at the same prices as your website.

Receipts that look like yours

Built for 58mm and 80mm rolls, with your own header and footer wording. If the connection drops, the till falls back to a built-in slip rather than printing nothing.

The things a real till has to get right

  • Fix a sale, do not redo it. Pull a completed sale back up, change what is on it, and the till works out whether to take more money or give some back. If it only owes a refund, it skips the payment screen entirely — and the tickets already issued keep working.
  • Staff sign in without logging out. A PIN on a shared till, so every sale is attributed to the person who made it. The PIN belongs to the group rather than one site, so someone covering a shift elsewhere still just works.
  • Name your own tender types. Cash, card, cheque, or School Voucher and Staff Comp if that is what your business uses. What you call a payment never changes how the system processes it — a voucher can never quietly reach a card processor, and never inflates the cash the drawer is expected to hold.
  • Per-register rules. Whether staff must look up a customer, whether cash is accepted, whether card numbers can be typed in by hand, and which tender types that till offers. The dockside kiosk and the gift shop counter do not have to be the same.
